Shipping and insurance policy

Carriers, deadlines and insurance under Directive 2011/83/EU, the CMR Convention and the US FTC Mail Order Rule.

Updated: 2026-06-01

⚠️ Informational template. This document is a preliminary version pending review by counsel in each applicable jurisdiction (US + EU/Spain). It does not constitute binding legal advice.

Data controller and service operator:

1. Legal framework

  • Directive 2011/83/EU (Consumer Rights) — delivery deadlines.
  • RDL 1/2007 (LGDCU) — Spain.
  • CMR Convention (1956) — international road carriage of goods.
  • FTC Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule (16 C.F.R. § 435).

2. Carriers

GSG selects carriers offering value declaration, end-to-end tracking and signed delivery. DHL is the default. Buyers may choose from enabled carriers at checkout.

3. Delivery deadlines

For users in the EU / Spain

Under Directive 2011/83/EU and RDL 1/2007, the maximum is 30 days unless otherwise agreed. The consumer may terminate if the seller fails to deliver after notice.

For users in the United States

Under the FTC Mail Order Rule, shipments must occur within 30 days unless another timeframe is clearly disclosed. Delays require notice with cancellation and refund option.

4. Mandatory videos (Mode A)

  • Continuous packing video by the seller.
  • Continuous unboxing video by the buyer.

Without both, a dispute cannot be opened except for "not received".

5. Shipping insurance

Insurance is borne by the buyer and calculated as a percentage of sale value (Admin-configurable). Meets minimum coverage requirements applicable to international transport (CMR).

6. Transport claims

  • 5-day deadline from registered delivery.
  • Provide the mandatory videos.
  • Parallel notice to the carrier where applicable.

7. Liability

  • Seller → GSG leg (Mode B): seller and carrier responsibility.
  • GSG → buyer leg (Mode B): shared GSG-carrier responsibility, insurance-covered.
  • Mode A end-to-end: seller and carrier responsibility. GSG provides tools (videos, labels) but does not assume transport risk.

8. Customs and export

Cultural goods exports require prior licenses (see Archaeological coins). For US ↔ EU shipments, the sender declares per applicable customs rules and accepts any duties or import taxes.
