Buyer-seller chat rules

Buyer-seller chat rules

What is and isn't allowed in GSG chats, and why bypassing the rules triggers a fraud alert.

2026-05-24

Why there are rules

GSG exists so buyer and seller can operate safely. That only works if every transaction stays inside the platform: escrow, KYC, disputes. The chat is for coordinating the trade, not for moving it elsewhere.

What you CANNOT share

These rules are NON-NEGOTIABLE:

  • Phone numbers (mobile, landline, WhatsApp).
  • ❌ Personal emails.
  • IBAN or bank details.
  • External links (social media, other marketplaces, personal sites).
  • ❌ Alternative messaging apps (Telegram, Signal, Discord, etc.).
  • ❌ Any attempt to arrange payment outside escrow.

What happens if you try

The auto-filter does three things:

  1. The message is blocked before sending. The other party never sees it.
  2. It's logged in moderation with full content.
  3. A fraud alert is opened automatically. Repeat offenders get suspended.

Why the hard rule

Any transaction outside GSG loses:

  • ✗ Escrow (your money has no protection).
  • ✗ Disputes (no arbiter).
  • ✗ Legal traceability.
  • ✗ GSG-contracted shipping insurance.

Common scams: the "seller" vanishes after being paid; the "buyer" claims non-delivery with no carrier evidence. GSG can't help in either case.

How to open a chat

From any product page → "Chat with seller". A thread between buyer and seller opens. See everything at My messages.

Moderation

Messages go through:

  1. AI filter — blocks contacts / links / IBAN automatically.
  2. Human review for flagged or reported messages.
  3. "Report" button on every message.

The full conversation is stored server-side for later arbitration.

What you CAN talk about

  • Piece details, certification, condition.
  • Shipping mode and timing.
  • Packaging and verification.
  • HQ coordination in modality B.
  • Price negotiation via Counteroffers.
